Thurnscoe Family Centre is a purpose-built building, which provides a variety of services to the local community with children aged 0-19 years, 25 years if they have an additional need. Within the family centre we provide sessional term time only childcare for funded children aged 2 to 4 years. We offer a large open plan nursery environment with large outdoor space, both of which are designed to enhance children's play, learning and development. When your child first starts in nursery, they will be allocated a key person who will work with you to develop a partnership to ensure that your child's individual learning and care needs are met. At the centre we promote self-care and independence enabling children to make their own choices through play and exploration. To support this the nursey team are constantly reviewing the learning environment and provide a balance of both child and adult led activities, using a range of natural resources to help create 'awe and wonder' in children's learning and development. We also provide a number of sensory resources and activities to support all children who access the setting, especially children who have specific learning needs. When children first start in setting we have a thorough transition period where we develop parent partnerships and produce a time table to help settle children into nursery. During this time children are allocated a Key Person, who is responsible for developing activities to support their learning and development through a range of both child and adult led experiences/activities.
